Time Flies

We have been busy with the gardens and so no posts for a while. I am taking pictures along the way though and here are some. We have spent many evenings sitting out in the field being entertained by the chicks. Baby - she is still the smallest - jumps up on the arm of the chair for a tummy scratch. The rest just look at her like she is crazy but they hang around the chairs too. I notice they do clear out of the way when a pony comes by but they are unafraid of Harla our vegetarian cat. I've had to shoo away KitKat (the killer) but I'm not really sure she would take on a chicken. They are sort of big. They will follow us if we are walking around out there and if they are out and we go in for a while, when we come back they run to us like we've been missing! At this age (they are 12 weeks old) they spend most of their time eating and running after moths and other flying bugs. They are very easy to keep, their favorite treats so far are grapes, cucumber, strawberries and spinach. Glen is going to have to get busy building the nesting boxes so when they are ready to start laying eggs, they will have a proper nest.
